Damascus Wedding Reception

Cory and Alix

March 12, 2022

In years to come, there will be a lot that won't be remembered about today.

The cake is long gone, the exact words of speeches forgotten and the dress sits in a closet after it's one, glorious purpose was filled.

However here's what won't be forgotten:

A father's tearful, adoring eyes on his little girl he's called his own since she was a child. That agape love that binds separate, broken people into a beautiful, loving and whole family. Although Alix lost her father to cancer at five, and Bryan lost his first wife to cancer around the same time, something new would be forged.

And today he had to give her away.

But it is well. He is able to smile and alongside his wife throw this party because Cory is a good man. Gentle, kind, strong, and so in love with Alix. Throughout the day I saw him be her safe-haven. She looked to him and her countenance naturally brightened. She is so happy.

So as the mic is passed around and family and friends give their best advice... jokes are shared, stories retold, laughter ignited and Scripture read... these things remain.

God. Family. Love.

So Cory and Alix, I pray you will always grow deeper in what you have today. This anchor of commitment and cherishing one another. I pray you encounter joy and laughter and closeness like you've never known before. Hold tight to what is worth fighting for and know how many people love you. Thank you for letting me be a part of your beautiful day. Much love to you,

Love,

Sarah
