Mr. and Mrs. Smith
October 12, 2024
Woodbine Lane, California
Anyone who has encountered Simeon and Aubrey can see that they are a beautiful balance for each other. His bold confidence and her gentle calm are a beautiful compliment. They are two people grounded in Christ, who have joined in one flesh and are stronger together.
We gathered under the hot Californian sun to celebrate their marriage, to witness their vows, to laugh and break bread together and dance the night away.
I think the word I would use to describe them is genuine. Their authentic selves shone through the entire day. From Aubrey's relaxed trust that the day would be beautiful come what may, to Simeon's playfulness during the ceremony, they were secure in consistent and selfless love that freed them to be themselves.
Simeon's father preformed the ceremony. My eyes misted at every tender glance, between the couple, between their parents... families were merging and something new was being forged. They drank the communion cup and under God made their covenant together. Now no matter what comes, they have a home. Not a building, but a person. Arms to bring comfort and security, words to bring life, love and leadership, faith to bring endurance and hope. When one is down the other can pull them up. If selfishness arises, according to human nature, faithfulness will see them through. When trials come and winds blow they are not alone. From now on, life is shared.
May God bless you, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Here's to a lifetime.
...and they lived happily ever after.
Love, Sarah
