Romantic Officer Collection

Matt and Sianna

June 15, 2021

It was my best friend's birthday weekend and this is how I celebrate.

She's also my sister-in-law now, so that is very, very convenient.

It was actually raining pretty thoroughly as we were getting ready to leave the house. I was praying it would stop, praying for sunshine, praying for the most beautiful pictures ever to honor them.

Sianna put on the dress she would have worn to the Officer's Ball had Covid not canceled it. As for Matt, for their wedding they couldn't decide which uniform to have him wear (they chose blue). So I was very excited to be able to get these shots for them.

But as we're finishing up with everything we can possibly stall with... it's still raining. "Alright, well, let's go," I announce.

Matt pauses and looks at me, "Are you sure?" (Very not sure).

"What's a little water." I can say things like that because we are related.

So in this first shot up above, you can actually see beautiful little droplets of rain near their faces, because it was still raining while the sun was breaking through.

It's funny because I prayed for sun. I hoped for sun. I still had a hard time believing it would happen, it had been bleak and cloudy all day, just to give way to drizzle. But God didn't just give us sun. He gave us a beautiful show of color and light as sunbeams shot out over the water and the entire town was painted in gold from our vantage point.

What a way to close the night.

Well, no. Actually, the close was the drive home, the blissful sense of summer and contentment with a little wind in your hair and these two laughing in the front seat. It was seeing where Matt works at dusk, seeing the herd of elk in purple twilight, and curling up to Anne of Green Gables and twinkle lights when we got home.

Love you both.

(The following was a dramatic change in light and color and does not match the rest of this session, so I hesitate to share. But in the spirit of my talk of said color and light, here is a glimpse.)

Love, Sarah
