Lydia
November 2021
This beauty. The epitome of a gentle, sweet spirit. Nobody makes me laugh like Lydia does. Nobody is as knowledgeable about tiny houses or as fiercely devoted to her family. Certainly nobody can fit as many plants as humanly possible in a room as she can. When we're together you may find her reading to me about Blue Castles and dreams, or we may be sitting on her bed and researching toothpaste for four hours. We listen to worship music (in German. Because she is learning it) and we sing songs with epic duets (in English. Because we know it.). She is beautiful and strong and growing.
We thought it was funny when the man in Uganda shouted from outside our tent, "The rains are coming!" and I died laughing in humiliation (that had better die with us, Lydia. Leave the reader with a little bit of mystery.)
But little did we know how foretelling it was.
The rains are coming.
And you have faced many-a-storm, my friend, since that night. And there are many things I would love to say to you, but let me tell the world this:
And I am so, so proud of you. You are truly an inspiration of strength and hope. I love you more than life. You have the most beautiful smile in the world.
These photos were not taken on the most beautiful day ever. There were no sunbeams, only rain. Rain and flowers and smiles. Summer is coming, but I am so grateful for what we have.
Love, Sarah
