Hello Everyone :)
With summer and weddings on the horizon, I wanted to fill you in why it's so helpful for you to invest in a second shooter. Most photographers, myself included, will offer a "second shooter"; that means you get two photographers instead of one. Is that actually useful? Yes, yes it is. Here's why:
One
They get the shots I cannot. So, while I'm getting this sweet shot that you need...
She's in the back getting this, that you also need.
Enough said.
Two
Your second shooter will simultaneously get angles that I cannot.
...as I was moving to get the groom's face in this shot, here my second shooter was on the other side just a moment before...
Or take this Beauty for example. A second angle adds so much diversity.
Three
And lastly.
We are not always together. As I photographed the Groomsmen (I usually say "shot" instead of photograph, but that sounded weird suddenly) I had my second shooter go back to get the bride and her girls "on deck" for the entire Bridal Party's photos. As she was with the bride she took this beautiful photo I'm low-key jealous of, a moment that I missed entirely because I was otherwise occupied.
So I hope that answers some of your questions about second shooters! Other benefits include time efficiency, help with more complex shots (such as holding reflectors and fluffing veils) and aid to your family by gathering and directing for group portraits. Now when faced with the choice you can weigh your options and make an informed decision!
Thank you to my amazing friend, Alayna Reann Photography!!
Love,
Sarah
