Toddler and Filly Portrait Session

There is nothing sweeter than the innocent, fresh, playful and imaginative being called a little girl. Combine that with an equine baby girl in a field of wild flowers and you've got yourself the essence of beauty and wonder - and a whole lot of trouble for Daddy down the road :).

Meet the little Arabian-cross filly, Daisy (sweetly named by the darling toddler you see above). Daisy is in the process of being adopted by her new Mom, Shaley.

Shaley first met Daisy through her workplace where she specializes as a vet technician. The vet clinic took care of the baby for a time before Daisy and her Mom, Callie, were placed in the Arabian Horse Rescue in Clackamas County. But Shaley was smitten by those chocolate eyes from the first moment she saw them. Saying goodbye was hard. However, this didn't have to be a goodbye story. Many days after work Shaley would find some time to get away and visit Callie and Daisy at the horse rescue. Sometimes she would bring her little daughter, as well.

After visiting Mama and baby many times in the weeks to follow, Shaley decided to take the steps of adoption.

When she is ready for the weaning process, Daisy will eventually be on her way to her forever home, where she will be loved and raised, her discipline to be decided as her personality and talents are revealed.

Meanwhile, she and her Mom are doing very well and thriving at the Rescue. Daisy is currently learning how to be a well-mannered, halter broke baby. She loves to play with her giant orange rubber ball and she loves to zoom around, kicking her heels high in the air just being a baby horse.

So this little curly-haired darling waits patiently (...Well, as patiently as a toddler can) for when she can take care of "her baby".

There is something magical and enchanting about the way the wild flowers blanketed our feet. They matched the wildness of her hair, making Little seem like a fairy sprite to me. As she placed her namesake in Daisy's mane and kissed her soft little nose my heart melted completely. Those gentle, soft little hands brushed the filly out as Mama Shaley stood near, holding Daisy securely. This little Princess is in love. And I see a bright and beautiful friendship... a tender bond... in the future of these kindred spirits.

Love, Sarah
